Frequently asked questions

How does scoring work?

Tap the team that won the point. Pala follows standard padel rules: games go to 40 with deuce/advantage or a single golden point at 40–40, sets are won at 6 games with a two-game lead, and a tie-break is played at 6–6. You choose best of 1, 3 or 5 when you start a match.

Can I score on Apple Watch?

Yes. Start a match on either your iPhone or your Apple Watch and score from your wrist in one tap. Scores sync automatically between the two devices over Bluetooth. You don’t need an Apple Watch to use Pala — it works great on iPhone alone, too.

How do I undo a point?

Tap the undo button during a match to reverse the last scored point. You can undo several points in a row. On Apple Watch you can also rotate the Digital Crown backwards to undo without looking.

Who’s serving — does Pala track that?

Yes. Pala tracks the serving player and side and updates them automatically as games and sets progress, so you never have to ask “who’s serving?”. If you ever need to correct it, you can set the server right from the scoring screen.

How do I turn on Health / workout tracking?

Open Pala’s settings (or accept the prompt during onboarding) and enable Health tracking. Pala will ask permission to save workouts to Apple Health. Each match is then saved as a workout with duration and calories — and heart rate when you wear an Apple Watch. You can turn it off any time in Pala, and manage or revoke access in the Apple Health app under Sharing > Apps.

I’m not seeing heart rate or calories.

Heart rate requires an Apple Watch worn during the match, with Health access granted to Pala. Check that workout tracking is enabled in Pala and that Pala has permission in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices. After a reinstall you may need to grant Health access again.

Where is my match history?

Completed matches are saved automatically. Open the History tab to see every match with set-by-set detail, or the Statistics tab for your win rate, streaks and head-to-head records over time.

What’s the difference between best of 1, 3 and 5?

Best of 1 is a single set. Best of 3 means the first team to win 2 sets wins the match; best of 5 means the first to 3. Most padel matches are best of 3.

Is my data private?

Yes. Pala stores everything on your device, with no accounts and no servers. It doesn’t track you or use analytics. Sync between iPhone and Apple Watch is a direct device-to-device connection. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.

How do I delete a match or my data?

Delete individual matches from the History tab. Deleting the App removes its locally stored data from that device. Any workouts already saved to Apple Health are managed by you in the Health app.
